Latinx Immigrants of Iowa presenta: Día de los Muertos en Iowa 2026
Latinx Immigrants of Iowa, en colaboración con la Biblioteca Pública de Des Moines, invita a toda la comunidad a su sexta celebración anual del Día de los Muertos, una tarde familiar dedicada a conservar nuestras tradiciones, celebrar nuestra cultura y recordar con amor a nuestros seres queridos que ya no están.
La celebración se realiza el 2 de noviembre porque, dentro de la tradición mexicana, esta fecha está dedicada especialmente a honrar la memoria de los adultos fallecidos. El 1 de noviembre suele estar dedicado a los niños que han fallecido y el 2 de noviembre a los adultos.
El Día de los Muertos no celebra la muerte; celebra la vida, los recuerdos y el legado que nuestros seres queridos dejaron en nosotros. Como parte central de esta celebración, tendremos una ofrenda tradicional del Día de los Muertos, preparada para honrar y recordar con respeto y cariño a nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido.
Durante el evento tendremos:
- Ofrenda tradicional del Día de los Muertos
- Presentación de ballet folclórico
- Concurso de Catrinas
- Exhibición de Catrinas
- Oportunidad de tomarse fotografías y video con las Catrinas
- Tamales
- Pan de muerto
- Chocolate caliente
- Actividades culturales para toda la familia

Latinx Immigrants of Iowa Presents: Day of the Dead in Iowa 2026
Latinx Immigrants of Iowa, in collaboration with the Des Moines Public Library, invites the entire community to its sixth annual Day of the Dead celebration, a family-friendly evening dedicated to preserving our traditions, celebrating our culture, and lovingly remembering those who are no longer with us.
The celebration takes place on November 2 because, according to Mexican tradition, this date is especially dedicated to honoring deceased adults. November 1 is traditionally dedicated to children who have passed away, while November 2 honors adults.
Day of the Dead does not celebrate death; it celebrates life, memories, and the legacy our loved ones left behind. As a central part of this celebration, we will have a traditional Day of the Dead ofrenda, created to respectfully and lovingly honor and remember our loved ones who have passed away.

Pan de muerto
