Our citizenship classes were born from a dream—one that started long before Latinx Immigrants of Iowa became an organization. For years, we saw members of our community struggling through the naturalization process alone. Many were ready to become U.S. citizens, but the fear of the interview, the language barrier, and the lack of support kept delaying their dream.
We listened to their stories. We saw their determination. And we understood one thing clearly: no one should have to walk this journey alone.
Latinx Immigrants of Iowa began offering citizenship classes as a response to that need. We wanted to create a space where our community could feel confident, prepared, and supported—where they could ask questions without fear, study with others who share the same dream, and receive guidance from people who genuinely care about their success.
Over time, these classes became more than lessons. They became a symbol of hope, empowerment, and belonging.
Today, our citizenship program reflects the heart of our organization: to uplift, educate, and walk alongside every person who is working toward a better future for themselves and their family.
Becoming a citizen is a milestone, but the journey to get there is full of courage—and we are honored to be part of that journey.
