At Latinx Immigrants of Iowa, our Legal Aid program was born from a simple truth:
our community deserves clarity, dignity, and support when facing difficult legal situations.

For years, we saw families and individuals trying to navigate complicated legal processes on their own—often confused, afraid, or unsure of where to begin. Many didn’t know their rights. Many felt alone. And many were taken advantage of simply because they didn’t have access to trustworthy information.

We realized something important:
no one in our community should have to face legal challenges without guidance.

That is why we created the Legal Aid program. Our goal is to provide a space where people can receive reliable information, ask questions without fear, and feel supported every step of the way. Whether someone is dealing with immigration concerns, needs help understanding legal documents, or is unsure about the next steps, we want them to know they are not alone.

Our work is always done in collaboration with attorneys who volunteer their time or join the effort when they are available and willing to support the community. We respect their expertise, and together we create an environment where people can feel safe, informed, and empowered.

For us, Legal Aid is more than a program—
it is a commitment to protect, uplift, and stand beside the Latino community with honesty and compassion.
